It also explains why “one-size-fits-all” health products do not work, everyone is different!

Individual differences in bodyweight, age, gender, diet, exercise, and other lifestyle habits (e.g. smoking) all play a role in determining your vitamin and mineral requirements. The Lifestyle Quiz is used to extract this information which is entered into the Rootine algorithm with DNA data and Blood data to generate a complete picture of your nutrient needs.

Diet and Calcium

The primarily source of calcium in most modern diets is dairy. For those who avoid dairy products due to lactose intolerance or other reasons typically consume significantly less calcium per day than average, and may need additional calcium in their vitamin packs to meet their necessary daily intake.

Size and Body Composition

Larger individuals typically have a higher vitamin and mineral requirement, simply due to size. Additionally, individuals with higher fat mass percentages often need increased fat-soluble vitamins, compared to the norm.


There are significant gender differences in nutrient needs. For example, women typically require higher iron intakes during menstruation years due to iron loss in blood. However, certain HFE gene variants (seen in a genetic test) may actually override this increased need, which is why DNA and Blood data provide useful context to Lifestyle information within the algorithm.
