Jane learned that her previous iron supplement was poisoning her body.

Jane's genetic test revealed that she was a carrier of mutations in her HFE gene, found in about 1 in 200 people. The resulting genetic dysfunction made Jane's body absorb too much iron which can lead to iron overload and a disease called hemochromatosis. All iron was removed from Jane's formula.

Nicholas learned that he needed ~2x the vitamin D compared to the average.

Nicholas' genetic test showed a mutation in the VDR gene that reduces the binding of vitamin D to its receptor. He needs about two times the vitamin D to achieve normal levels of vitamin D receptor activation. Nicholas' vitamin D level was upped accordingly.

Stefanie found that her body struggles to activate folic acid and food-based folates.

A double C677T mutation in the MTHFR gene was revealed on her genetic test which means that she will likely benefit from pre-activated folate, called methylfolate, as it bypasses the dysfunctional enzyme. Methylfolate at a dose unique to Stefanie was added to her Rootine.

Sarah discovered the CoQ10 she was taking for skin health was a waste of money.

The genetic test revealed that Sarah's NQO1 gene, responsible for activating CoQ10, is dysfunctional and CoQ10 does not work in her body. Additional antioxidants were added to Sarah's Rootine to compensate for her reduced ability to neutralize free radicals..

We're Glad You Asked

What will the DNA test and report tell me?

The cheek-swab DNA test analyzes more than 50 gene variants that are scientifically proven to impact micronutrient and macronutrient needs and preferences. The report will show you which of these genes work well, which don't, and what that means for factors like diet composition, if you are predisposed to being hungrier than normal (reduced satiety), foods to choose or avoid, and the types of exercise that will work best for you. You'll also learn which nutrients you need more of or less of, and which nutrients will will be helpful vs potentially harmful in your dashboard.

This report currently only works with the Rootine DNA Test, it does not allow for 23andMe or Ancestry.com data uploads.

How is this report different than other DNA-based reports?

There are two primary differences between our report and other reports available on the market. First, our report is incredibly detailed and in-depth. The total report is more than 150+ pages. While this can see overwhelming, we provide long lists of foods that you should gravitate towards or avoid and full explanations around why your body is predisposed to certain macro- and micronutrients, types of exercise, fats vs. carbs, and frequency of eating, and we provide a consultation with a nutritionist to help you understand and leverage the information. Second, we focus exclusively on gene variants with a proven impact on metabolism and nutrient requirements to ensure that the information you're receiving is truly useful and based in sound science. Many other companies include gene variants with scarce research showing real impact on various aspect of diet, exercise, and daily habits.

I already have DNA data, can I upload?

At this time, the nutrigenomic reports only work with the Rootine DNA Test. They do not function with 23andMe or Ancestry.com data. We are working to adapt those data sets for these reports.

Will I have to pay anything for the nutrition consult?

No, the 45-min initial consultation with an OnPoint Nutrition nutritionist is complementary. You will have the option of continuing to work with your nutritionist or an OnPoint dietitian should you choose, but it is completely option.

Is my DNA data private?

Your data is 100% private - plain and simple. Rootine is not in the business of selling personal data or using it for any purpose other than making sure that your body gets the precision nutrition that it deserves. Our industry-leading genetics laboratory is governed by some of the strictest data and medical privacy laws in the world.

Why is Rootine better than other vitamins?

Rootine is 100% customized using your DNA, blood levels (optional), and lifestyle data and based on 300+ independent scientific research reports. Our microbeads are easy to take and contain no fillers (goodbye horse pills), super convenient to travel with, and - best of all - our customers love the way they feel after taking Rootine!

PLUS: you'll learn so much about your body from the detailed nutrition reports + detailed genetic analysis in your dashboard.

How does the optional blood level test work?

Most doctors, clinics and labs can easily order a blood nutrient test for you, plus we've partnered with a leading at-home blood testing company and have an exclusive discount for Rootine members. All it takes is a quick finger-prick and you can order the test yourself, no doctor required. In your dashboard, you'll input the test results (we've made it easy) and the formula in your next shipment of Rootine will automatically adjust based on your most current nutrient levels. This allows Rootine to adapt over time and change with you as your nutrient needs change.

How long does it take?

From the time our lab receives yourDNA or Blood Nutrient Test, analysis can take anywhere from 3-5 weeks based on the quality of your samples. If you've already taken a test from another provider (contact us for a list of approved partners), you can skip the wait by easily uploading your data in your dashboard and processing will occur (~48 hours). Once analysis is complete for either option, you can expect your vitamins to ship within 2 weeks.
